Without key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually secures them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another victory in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct entry to the last 16, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity
This match provided a platform for several Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive match.
A Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season were no match even for a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
